Benefit concert in the Johanneskirche

With musicians of the Staatsopernchor Stuttgart and the Staatsorchester Stuttgart

Johannes Brahms Schicksalslied op. 54 (Arrangement for chamber orchestra by Russell Adrian)
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Wie der Hirsch schreit nach frischem Wasser (Psalm 42, Arrangement for chamber orchestra by Jan-Benjamin Homolka)
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Verleih uns Frieden gnädiglich

After the overwhelming success of the benefit concert last season, members of the Staatsopernchor will be performing again in the Evangelische Johanneskirche am Feuersee under the musical direction of Manuel Pujol. The program includes works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Johannes Brahms, which are not normally part of the daily routine of an opera choir. They will be accompanied by members of the Stuttgart State Orchestra. At the center of the concert is the question: What is man? "Thrown from cliff to cliff like water" or sheltered in God? In their choral works, Brahms and Mendelssohn find very different answers to these human, all too human questions – disturbing, touching and comforting.
