*Children workshops for Symphony Concerts
Workshop at first, followed by Concert: After a playful and musical introduction in German during the first half of the concert, children aged 4 to 10 experience the second half together with other children in a group. The children are first attended to and prepared for the concert by experienced pedagogical staff. After the intermission, they will then visit the concert in the group. The workshops are offered on Sundays for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th Symphony concert.

If interested, please have your child registered when purchasing your ticket for the concert. Tickets for the workshops are available either directly at our ticket office, via mail (tickets@staatstheater-stuttgart.de) or telephone (+49 711 20 20 90).
Composer in Focus 2020/21: Régis Campo
Régis Campo was born and raised in Marseille where he studied composition with Georges Boeuf at the Conservatory of Marseille. He then entered the Conservatoire de Paris in the classes of Alain Bancquart and Gérard Grisey, where he obtained his first composition prize in 1995. In 1992, he studied with Edison Denisov who considered him as “one of the most gifted of his generation.” Campo's style, often described as playful and colorful, departs from the great aesthetic trends of the late twentieth century with regard to emphasis on melodic invention and tempos of great vitality.
From 1999 to 2001 he was resident at the Villa Medici. In Europe and in about thirty countries all over the world, many different artists have played his compositions.
His work has received numerous awards including the Gaudeamus Prize (1996), the Special Award Young Composers (1996), the Dutilleux Prize (1996), SACEM prices Hervé Dujardin (1999) and Pierre Cardin (1999) The Institute of France, the SACEM Prize for Young Composers (2005), the “Georges Bizet” Prize of the Institute of France (2005) as well as the Prize of the Simone and Cino Del Duca Foundation (2014).
As Composer in Focus in the season 2020/21 Régis Campo composes two new works for the musicians of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart which will be first premiered in the 7th Symphony Concert and the 7th Chamber Concert.

Pillow Concert
Up in the tree on the count of three

Every day at seven the tiger makes his rounds in the jungle. “I’ll count to three and if by then, not everyone is high up in the tree, then woe betide you!” Swiftly all animals obey - if it weren't for the small porcupine...
A wacky little story about courage.

The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra

In Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra various musical instruments get introduced in an entertaining fashion. Next to Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals and Sergej Prokofjev‘s Peter and the Wolf, Britten’s composition is one of the most widely performed musical pieces for a young audience.
The Concert is presented by Staatsorchester Stuttgart, Landesjugendorchester Baden-Württemberg and General Music Director Cornelius Meister – narrated by Ralph Caspers, well-known for the children’s TV shows Wissen macht Ah! and Die Sendung mit der Maus).

Pillow Concert
The Thing from the accoustic swamp

Is not every musical instrument very special indeed? Three very different instruments come to understand that the combination of their single and unique capabilities is greater than their individual strengths. And more importantly – more beautiful: Pure music it is!
Concert
What exactly is a Pillow Concert!
Our Pillow Concerts are created and performed by musicians of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart. 30 minutes prior to the performance, the children are invited to a handicraft work related to the topic of the concert. Following the concert, which lasts approx 30 minutes, the children are encouraged to try out the musical instruments they have just listened to.
