Alessandro Schiattarella

Alessandro Schiattarella is a Neapolitan choreographer, performer, and activist for inclusion and disability, based in Basel, Switzerland. Since 2024, he has served as Co-Artistic Director of DISFRAME (formerly IntegrART), an initiative supported by the Migros Culture Percentage to promote inclusive performing arts. His choreographic work, shaped by his experience with Hirayama disease, explores ableism, queer-feminist perspectives, and the politics of embodiment through movement.
His recent productions include Handling Hands (National Center for the Performing Arts, Beijing, 2024), Breaking Point (Staatstheater Hannover, 2024), Supernormal Superpower (Staatstheater Braunschweig, 2025), and Voglio Vederti Danzare! (Wildwuchs Festival, 2025). Previously, his piece Zer-brech-lich premiered at Festival Theaterformen 2023, while A Chink in the Rubber Wall, a collaboration with Unmute Dance Company, debuted in Cape Town in 2022.
Earlier in his career, Alessandro danced with Béjart Ballet Lausanne, Ballett Basel, and Grand Théâtre de Genève. Today, he collaborates with collectives such as Criptonite, The Army of Love, and Blasphemic Readings Soirées. He trained at Accademia Teatro alla Scala and Rudra Béjart Lausanne, holds a MAS in Fine Arts from HGK FHNW, and a CAS in Dance Science from the University of Bern. As a lecturer, he gives international talks on disability aesthetics and inclusive practices.
