Gerrit Jurda

Gerrit Jurda gained experience as a lighting technician at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz while still a student in Berlin. After graduating with a degree in theater and event technology, he spent several years working as a freelance lighting designer. He then studied lighting design at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding. After several years as lighting master at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, he has been lighting designer at the Bayerischen Staatsschauspiel in Munich since 2009 and head of the lighting department since 2020.
Gerrit Jurda has worked with Stefan Bachmann, Claudia Bauer, Sebastian Baumgarten, David Bösch, Andrea Breth, Frank Castorf, Barbara Frey, Herbert Fritsch, Jan Philipp Gloger, Dimiter Gotscheff, Stephan Kimmig, Mateja Koležnik, Andreas Kriegenburg, Martin Kušej, Thom Luz, Enrico Lübbe, Wilfried Minks, Amélie Niermeyer, Ivan Panteleev, Claus Peymann, Stefan Pucher, Ulrich Rasche, Nora Schlocker, Johan Simons, Simon Stone, and Philipp Stölzl.
At the Staatsoper Stuttgart, Gerrit Jurda was responsible for the lighting for Das Rheingold and Rusalka in 2021/22, for the Johannes-Passion in 2023, and for Idomeneo in 2024/25. This will be followed in 2025/26 by a new production of The Cunning Little Vixen.
