Love, D-Mark and Death
Documentary by Cem Kaya (2022)
What does distance sound like? In workers' hostels and tea houses, the first stages for migrant musicians emerged in the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1960s. They sang songs about their living conditions and developed their own musical culture, which differed greatly from the music scene in Turkey.
In conversation with Lina Falivena, a research assistant at the Documentation Centre and Museum on Migration in Germany, and Sara Glojnarić, composer of Station Paradiso, we discuss the collection and telling of migration histories.
