The twin theaters that now house the Staatstheater Stuttgart have stood in the Oberer Schloßgarten since 1912. Although the opera house has been preserved in its original form, more than 100 years have not passed without leaving their mark: the stage technology is dilapidated, workshops and storage rooms are bursting at the seams, and audience members have to wait far too long for their intermission pretzels. How can the opera house be made fit for the next 100 years? These and other questions relating to the planned renovation are the focus of the 90-minute tour.
