SEASON
2025/26

Greeting from Artistic Director Viktor Schoner
Dear audience,

Where is home? In her search for “music from home“, composer Sara Glojnarić has spent the past few months building up an archive of music(s) from Stuttgart. The result is a new opera about a group of Stuttgart residents and their long journey(s) across generations, nationalities and musical tastes: Station Paradiso. It is exactly these dividing and uniting boundaries that mark the new productions of this season: From Nina Simone and Frank Sinatra’s I Did It My Way to Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and Puccini’s Turandot, from Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites to Wagner’s overwhelming and chauvinistic reflection on German art in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. I cordially invite you to an opera season that creates connections!

Best wishes
Yours, Viktor Schoner
and the Staatsoper Stuttgart team

The new Conert Season – Greeting from Cornelius Meister
Dear concert lovers,
dear concert subscribers,

An extraordinary season awaits you: we have succeeded in luring my esteemed predecessors Dennis Russell Davies, Lothar Zagrosek, Manfred Honeck and Sylvain Cambreling back to their former work places. At the same time, the musicians of the Staatsorchester are even more versatile than before: eight of them in solo concerts, and oboist Ivan Danko as a composer.

With the First, the Sixth and the Ninth, the Staatsorchester and I will complete our Mahler cycle. Within eight years, we will have performed all the Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms and Mahler symphonies, almost all the Beethoven symphonies (with the exception of the Ninth) and around a third of the Mozart symphonies.

But as usual, we combine the monoliths of the concert repertoire with both premieres and first performances – this season: Danko, Hefti, Hosokawa, Schulhoff, Simon – as well as with rarely performed works from earlier times.

On various occasions, the Staatsopernchor will be in the sportlight of concerts: in the symphony concert and lunch concert series and at the opening of the season. Opening, lunch, chamber, symphony, Christmas, New Year, song and open-air concerts or the Chaplin silent movie performance: What is your favorite format?

I warmly greet you, the fans of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart, the Staatsopernchor and the vocal ensemble, in anticipation of season 2025/26!

Yours,
Cornelius Meister
