The talents in the Staatsorchester Stuttgart are diverse. There is also a first-class composer among the musicians: Ivan Danko, principal oboist since 2001, has increasingly focussed on composing alongside his international appearances as a soloist. In his work Process, Danko captures the bizarre, oppressive atmosphere of Franz Kafka’s novel The Trial in music. The deliberately Kafkaesque choice of solo instruments, namely oboe, Wagner tuba and harpsichord, contributes to this. Following the successful Prague premiere in 2024 on the 100th anniversary of Kafka’s death, Ivan Danko’s Process will be performed for the first time in Germany in the 2. Symphony Concert in Stuttgart.
