Ballroom Session by Voguing Stuttgart

Abends im JOiN

History Talk and Dance Workshop
In a workshop with theoretical and practical components we learn more about the Ballroom culture! Ballroom culture describes an African-American and Latin-American movement in the LGBTQI+ scene that originated in New York City in the 1980s and is now practised in many countries around the world. Among other things, this gave rise to the well-known voguing dance. The Ballroom community is not just about the dance, but also about the community as such. The "houses" in the Ballroom scene often act as a family substitute for people who have been rejected by their families or society due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

This event is part of the series Abends im JOiN: once a month, JOiN invites art and culture, associations, groups and communities from the city to perform on the stage in the north - with live podcasts, late-night formats, concerts, debates ... Are you looking for a stage for your club, group or community and want to be part of the Abends im JOiN series? Get in touch at: join@staatstheater-stuttgart.de.
