Zu Gast beim Beethovenfest
Under the baton of General Music Director Nicholas Carter, the Stuttgart State Opera will perform at the Beethovenhalle in Bonn with the first act of Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre. In this second part of the tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen, the focus is on the fateful encounter between the twin siblings Sieglinde and Siegmund, who grew up apart, sung by KS Simone Schneider and John Findon. A great love blossoms between them, from which the hero Siegfried later emerges. The concert opens with mysterious sounds from Kaija Saariaho’s Ciel d’hiver as well as Franz Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony“. Why the 25-year-old left his poignant B-minor Symphony, in which he reveals his innermost feelings through an unconventional musical language, unfinished remains to this day one of the greatest mysteries of music history
