Alice im Wunderland

Opera for people aged 10 and older Stuttgart version Music: Johannes Harneit Libretto: Lis Arends in German
One sleepy afternoon, Alice suddenly starts to sink deeper and deeper into an opening in the ground – alternately growing and shrinking. Everything around her in Wonderland seems so strange that Alice is moved to cry a whole sea of tears. Could it be that she was mixed up overnight with somebody else? Not only the white rabbit and the hat-maker, who seems to be stuck in a perpetual five o’clock tea party, appear crazy to Alice: In addition, incorrect words have crept into the songs and nobody can really trust the numbers. But everybody who disobeys the rules will be beheaded by the Queen. Until Alice suddenly and automatically and without any additional help of cake or syrup starts to grow again...

Composer Johannes Harneit has turned Lewis Carrolls’ timeless adventure story into an exciting musical language which enables adults, youths and children alike to sensually experience Alice’s despairing yet brave search for the right keys to unlock mysterious riddles as well as closed doors.
