ASSITEJ-Workshop

Music can create new forms of cultural encounters, dialogues, and connections, transcending language barriers. However, cultural diversity is rarely reflected on stages for young audiences. It’s time to ask: Which musical cultures are represented in our institutions? How can cultural recognition be achieved by those involved in the production process—on textual, musical, and scenic levels? What conditions are needed for this? What does this mean for the different artistic processes? And how does it affect young audiences and, potentially, their accompanying adults? Whom do we invite, and how? Whom, perhaps, not yet?

We aim to discuss these and many other questions together with the AG Musiktheater of ASSITEJ, using our production HALLO BLAU مرحبا بالأزرق as a case study, and exchange personal experiences.
