Philippe Boesmans

Reigen

Philippe Boesmans in German with German supertitles
Ten alarmingly banal dialogues before and after sex, ten more or less erotic meetings between man and woman – like partners in a round dance, they meet for quick encounters: first prostitute and soldier, then soldier and housemaid, housemaid and young gentleman, until finally a duke meets up again with the prostitute. In 1993, Belgian composer Philippe Boesmans and director Luc Bondy made Arthur Schnitzler’s drama into an opera.
