Long before the National socialism’s cultural politics sucked the German Operetta repertoire empty, a considerable number of artists of that genre had already emigrated to the USA due to the diverse pogroms in East Europe. For a long time the Yiddish language remained solely the „lingua franca“ in the diaspora, even though through composers like Abraham Ellstein and movie star Molly Picon great impact on the American musical with the help of Yiddish operetta had been made. The Lied Recital Farges mikh nit is both review and stocktaking of a nearly forgotten genre. After three years, the program is once again being shown on the Stuttgart stage. Mezzo-Soprano Helene Schneiderman and Soprano Alma Sadé are accompanied by Barrie Kosky at the piano.
