Hotel Modern „Kamp“

The Dutch theater collective Hotel Modern, responsible for the first act of the Stuttgart Valkyrie, is showing Kamp, probably their best-known work, for the first time in Stuttgart as part of the Frühjahrsfestival. Using three thousand finger-sized figures, Arlène Hoornweg, Pauline Kalker and Herman Helle narrate everyday life in the Nazi extermination machinery in a miniature version of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, filming the figures with miniature cameras and projecting the images onto the screen, providing soundless glimpses into the details of the horror. The result is a unique, painfully emotional approach to the Holocaust.
