5. Song Recital

Rachael Wilson presents Leoš Janáčeks song cycle Tagebuch eines Verschollenen (The Diary of One Who Disappeared) at the opera house, accompagnied by Simon Lepper. The cycle is about the love of the wealthy farmer's son Janíček for the gypsy Zefka. The songs indirectly and stylized reflect the emotional life of the composer, who at the time was under the influence of his love for the beautiful and much younger Kamila Stösslová.
