The floating locomotion in space as well as the observation of a sunrise from the perspective of an astronaut are among the impressive images that inspired Garth Knox to his string quartet Satellites. It is combined with Darius Milhauds captivating suite for clarinet, violin and piano, and the trio of Armenian composer Aram Chatschaturjan, who transports the audience to the fascinating sound world of his homeland. The concert finishes with Benjamin Britten's 2nd String Quartet, a homage to Henry Purcell.
