Edison Denisov

L'Écume des jours

by Edison Denisov in French with German supertitles
For his »Lyrical Drama« L’Écume des jours Edison Denisov adapted Boris Vian’s love story, which after its publication in 1946 under the same name reached cult status in the Sixties and Seventies. Denisov is considered as one of the most independent and creative musicians in the Soviet Union. His composition was set to French lyrics and came to world premiere in 1984  in Paris. With it he proved that „it is possible to compose in such a way that the music can be sung without falling back to old-fashioned traditionalism”.

In L‘Écume des jours melodic and intense though intimate scenes alternate with chorus scenes of musical-like quality.
