Current Festival: Symposium

The two-day symposium Unruhe bewahren! Art and Urban Development of the Current Festival is dedicated to the connection of art & culture with urban development. What role do artistic strategies, formats and projects play in urban transformation processes and what conditions are needed to play a shaping role in the long term beyond the impulse? On the first day we will shed light on the notion of restlessness in relation to artistic processes, talk about urban curation as a care and relationship work, discussing appropriation processes, gentrification issues and the social, political and material impact of digital technologies on our urban physical space. The discussions explore the meaning of self-empowerment, solidarity, and dialogue, taking into account different temporalities, site- and context-sensitivity.
