Mirrors don’t haunt– Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw, and Bob Andrews are convinced of that. But when Peter falls into a strange trance the moment he looks into an old hall of mirrors, accompanied by the sound of peculiar opera voices, the three detectives sense that something is amiss… The phone rings at the Three Investigators’ headquarters. On the line is director Reginald Hitfield, who is looking for a very special set design for a new opera production: a mysterious hall of mirrors that once belonged to the legendary opera diva Maria Callagria. But the object from Villa Sittich seems to be cursed! Every time it’s supposed to be picked up, the movers flee in panic. Strange sounds, hypnotic voices, and mirrors that show the past and the future present the Three Investigators with a mystery. What role do Callagria’s vanished voice, her mysterious manager Rex Jonathan, and the strange signature “MRJ” play?
And what’s really behind this ‘opera frenzy’? Will the Three Investigators unravel the mystery of the Hall of Mirrors—or are they themselves part of a sinister plot? For the first time, the three iconic detectives from Rocky Beach take on a case on an opera stage. For the world premiere at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, author Martin G. Berger and composer Gordon Kampe have written an opera mystery for fans of the Three Investigators and opera lovers: for the young, the young at heart, and everyone who might want to become one! Director Anna Weber, who has shaken up the opera scene with her productions in recent years, brings the case to the stage.
